The provincial capital of Khammouane Province, Thakhek
Thakhek is the capital of Khammouane province. It is located on the Mekong River banks, which has two main road crossing the district, they are 13th north road to the south and 12th road exit to Vietnam in the east (next to Ha Thinh and Kuang Bin province). The Thakhek is the centre of provincial management, including provincial office of Khammuane, economic zone, hospitals, schools, markets, tourism information centre office, hotels and restaurants, cafés, resorts, guesthouses, companies, banks, petrol stations, temples, international provincial bus station, post office, etc… The Unique building houses were built by French colonial construction in the early 20th century around the Thakhek town, near by the fountain square the Mekong River. Thakhek word will spell in Laos as “ທ່າແຂກ”, “Tha” means landing and “Khek” is guest in English.
Thakhek is not very spacious, you can walk around or you can rent a motorbike (use Google maps), its names as Wang Wang Motor Rental is next to the KGB Guesthouse around the town.

How to get to Khammouan Province?
Bus Station/Bus Stop
• Start from Southern Bus station in Vientiane capital to Rock Viewpoint (There will have two bus route leaves from the station Vientiane to Thakhek at 4:00 AM, 06:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 13:00 PM, Vientiane to Konglor at 10:00 AM)
• Vientiane capital to Khammouane by car (Time duration about 5 hours)
• Vientiane capital to Bus to Lak Sao (ask to Stop at Phou Pha Marn) will take time about 6 hours.
• Pakse (The capital of Champasack province to Rock ViewPoint (Phouphamarn) by car about(7-8 hours).
• Bus from Pakse to Thakhek + Bus to Kong Lor (Lak Sao) about 8 hours.
And the bus will stop In front of the Konglor cave area
In front of Konglor, That area has a lot of public transport such as Bus, Van and Song Theow (a pick up), you can ask for their phone numbers# if you want to pick up on the way you are going back or another area, So the driver can inform their crew to pick up you and your Friends in your area.
If you drive your private car, it takes five-six hours to travel from the capital (depending on the speed of the driver)
Note: PhouPha Marn and Kong Lor Cave are on the same Route. From Phou Pha Marn to Kong Lor Cave about 45 Km
And you can inform bus to stop at Rock View area.

Today I am going to present about Rock view.
The highlight s of the rock 5 zip line, 1 bridge,1 net walk, and via Ferrata approximately one hour and 45minutes, price $30.
Delve into one of the largest limestone forests in all of Asia is a fascinating itinerary of zip lines, suspended bridges, and spider net. The perfect experience for those who want to enjoy the high spots of the protected area.
Experience the Rock at Sunset $40, A magic experience that starts between 3 pm & 4 pm and includes all activities of highlights of the rock.
The attraction has been developed by Laos’ leading eco-tourism company Green Discovery Laos, with sustainable tourism in mind. Stopping by the Thakhek Loop that also acts as a tourist information center for all visitor in Khammouance Province.
