2. Southern Bus Station (Southern Bus Terminal or SBT)

Location: 450th-year road, Saphungmeuk Village, Saythany District, Vientiane Capital, Laos.

(Domestic and International Bus Terminal )

Google Map here:

Southern Bus Station (Southern Bus Terminal or SBT)This is the new place of the southern bus station. It is far from the previous station, about 1 KM. The building terminal is orange and it has many zones, for example, waiting for the area, bus ticket counters mini-mart, massage shop, bathroom, insurance agent, and so on…

Conveniently, the car park is in front of the main orange awning, it is next to 450th road and also has A motorbike parking area on the right of the entrance. In addition, you can park your motorbike overnight, but you will pay a fee. However, you should check the price before using It. This southern bus station is not too crowded if we compare IT to the central bus terminal.

Furthermore, there will be a lot of people for the long publics holiday of Laos like Lao New Year, National New Year; because Lao prefer to return to their hometown to visit their families. To avoid traffic you should travel by bus at least one or two weeks before heading to your destination. If you don’t you will face a big traffic jam.

Southern Bus Station (Southern Bus Terminal or SBT)

Typically, the Southern Bus will serve the route for the southern provinces, for example, Bolikhamxay, Khammouane, Savannakhet, Sekong, Saravane, Attapeu. But there will only be one Northern Province bus that travels through this station the reason the province was included in the journey south WAS because of its geography and map. Traveling to Xiengkhuang, to the south. saves time because it is a quicker route than Xiengkuang at Northern bus station, and the route is comfortable. So many people like to go to Xiengkhuang, passengers choose to travel through this route, via the province of Bolikhamxay to the southern part of the city.

In addition, The Southern Bus Terminal also operates bus services from Vientiane to Vietnam.

My husband is a native of this province when we visit my mother-in-law and relatives, we often travel to take this route as well. I recommend you take the bus to Southern Bus Station if you WANT to travel to Xiengkaung province.

There is also travel insurance and general insurance sales office for the insurance company inside the bus terminal building.

(Travel insurance for bus trip, more detail you can call +856 20 594044 or +856 55119958, +856 021 221210).

Note: If you would like to pick up a family or a friend at the station, you can use your private car to go there. But, you have to pay a one-time entrance fee of 5,000 Kip.

For passengers that don’t speak the language, I recommend parking your car at the front car park without any charge. Then, the passengers can walk through the path to take A private car at the car park.
